Discord

Discord may be the newest in a long line of homes for the IGNO community, but it's quickly risen to become one of the most beloved. It came at an ideal time - forum activity had been in decline for a while, IRC was rarely used by more than 3-4 regulars, and we'd bounced back and forth between Teamspeak and Mumble for gaming and voice hangouts no less than 3 times within a year. The group was fragmented more than ever as the era of instant messaging services fell before the all-consuming hunger of Facebook Messenger and Skype.

One night, fed up with Teamspeak, a few of us decided to give this fairly new chat program called Discord a try...and the rest is history. It wasn't long before the whole gang was back together for the first time in what felt like forever, and it felt like a renaissance of the golden ages of the cbox and IRC.

And we've been going strong ever since.

Most of the best Discord moments I’ve got on record are in screenshot form, and work best that way, as short amusing snippets rather than lengthy chatlogs. I’m not yet sure how I’ll go about archiving them here, but I’ll probably make some sort of image gallery. In the meantime, here’s a Best Of album, and another two specifically relating to the Cleverbot-powered Discord bots we once enjoyed.
