Chapter 2: Awkward Beginnings

Tim and LG had been together for a couple of weeks now. Most of IGNOLand knew about their relationship, due to LG’s radio show and Tim being a producer at IRC Studios. Though things had been nice for those couple of weeks something had been bothering Tim. This started right after they got off the train back to the Peeninsula.

“Robert!” LG said to his housekeeper as he and Tim walked into the kitchen of LG’s palace.

“Yes Mr. LG?” Robert replied to his employer.

“This is my friend Tim, whatever he needs take care of it,” LG told Robert.

From that moment on all Tim could think about was the word ‘friend’ and how much it bothered him that was how LG was choosing to introduce him. This wasn’t the only time that LG would introduce him as just a friend. Just the other day on air LG told his audience:

“So just a reminder our show is sponsored by Cheese Soda, it’s nutritious and delicious. Now available in five flavors including Gouda. But back to the question at hand I am sorry caller but I have no knowledge of the mating rituals of the Neutrals except for that is when they plot their attacks. I should ask my friend Tim more about it tonight.”

Tim had to wonder at some point what he was to the brown haired man. LG seemed to like him; Tim hadn’t been kicked out of LG’s place yet. This was the most uncomfortable time of the night at LG’s though. Every night LG had to decide what his topic for the next day would be. If LG had made one thing clear to Tim it was not to bother him during this time.

I could sneak in and give him a kiss at least right? Tim thought as he headed to the office in LG’s lighthouse.

Tim walked into the dimly lit office space to see an LG on a laptop in the corner of the room typing something, which Tim assumed would be dirty. Tim walked as silently he could across the cold floor and when he got behind LG he planted a small kiss on the man’s cheek.

LG looked over at Tim annoyed. “What do you want Tim? I’m working.”

“I just wanted to make your work a little more enjoyable,” Tim told him with a smile.

“Thanks, I guess,” LG said as he went back to his keyboard. It didn’t take long for LG to realize that Tim wasn’t leaving the room. “Okay something is bothering you, what is it?”

Tim sighed before he asked, “What am I to you?”

“LG turned around with a confused look on his face. “What do you mean?”

“What is this to you?” Tim asked. “Are we friends? Or are we more?”

“Why are you asking something this stupid?” LG said sounding annoyed.

“It’s not stupid!” Tim snapped back. Tim took a few breaths before he realized that he had raised his voice. “Sorry but it’s just that… You always introduce me as just a friend and I want to do things that couples do…”

As Tim hung his head in shame LG asked, “Well what kind of thing would you want to do?”

“I don’t know,” Tim admitted. Tim hadn’t planned something like this out yet. “How about dinner at the IGNO Restaurant?”

LG sighed but was willing to give this a shot. “Okay tomorrow after work we can go out for dinner.”

“YAY!” Tim squealed in joy as he gave his crush a hug.

All LG could think at that moment was, what did I get myself into?

After work the next day LG was more than ready to head out on a date. He was a bit nervous though. The only other person LG had ever dated was xL. LG knew that he liked Tim but how much did he like Tim? Did he want a relationship? Or did he want something else?

LG waited outside of IRC Studios until Tim came out.

“LG you’re here,” Tim said sounding surprised.

“Well I just thought I would wait for you this time,” LG said blushing.

“Let’s get going then!” Tim cheered as he grabbed LG’s arm and marched him to the restaurant.

One of the best parts of being a famous DJ was that LG was able to get a pretty good table at the restaurant. Though LG did know that the only other big time talk radio show was Asian Talk but that was only in the Asian language so LG didn’t have to worry about his demographics being stolen from him.

LG tried to be a gentleman and pull out the chair from the table for Tim. The chair was pulled out too far though and Tim fell on the floor and hit his head on the chair.

“Oh my god, Tim!” LG said rushing around the chair to help the Australian up. As LG offered out a hand Tim let out a whimper. It didn’t take long for LG to realize why; he was stepping on Tim’s tail. “Tim I am so so sorry!”

“It’s fine,” Tim said with a smile on his face as he got up on his own. “I think I’ll just seat myself.”

LG went to the other side of the table and sat down. Well this is a great start, LG thought.

After the drinks were served and the small talk about the day was out of the way LG and Tim had to decide what to order.

“What are the specials of the day?” LG asked the waitress.

“Steak and bacon or lamb chops.” The waitress told LG with a fake happy voice.

“LAMB CHOPS!” LG said very excited. “I fucking love those! I will be going to town on those like no other and-“

Then it hit LG that Tim raised sheep and loved them all in special ways. LG looked across the table to see a sad looking Tim.

“I’ll have the steak and bacon,” LG told the waitress.

“Good choice sir,” the waitress said, “And you?”

“Um the same,” Tim told her, “But could I get a side of toast?”

“Of course,” she replied walking away.

“A side of toast?” LG asked quietly.

“Yeah,” Tim said, “This place has the best stuff and… Oh…”

There were more than just a few moments of awkward silence before LG said, “It’s not a big deal.”

“I’m sorry LG,” Tim said softly, “I forgot and I feel so bad.”

“No it’s fine… I’m just glad to be here with you,” LG said as he grabbed Tim’s hand from across the table.

“LG…” Tim said with a concerned face.

“No it really is okay Tim,” LG reaffirmed. “I really am glad to be here with you.”

Tim started to turn as red as the blood cuisine served at the restaurant.

“I just haven’t had to be warm and fluffy with anyone in a while,” LG admitted with a serious look on his face.

“That’s okay,” Tim said with a gentle smile on his face. As he started to pet LG’s hand Tim continued to say, “Just give it time and I know that I will make you happy.”

LG smiled. He wouldn’t let Tim know yet how happy he already was. Being here with Tim made LG feel calm and crazy. He could have sworn he felt Tim’s heart beat in his hand making him know that Tim’s heart was fluttering as much as his.

The rest of the date went about as well as the first half with many things going wrong. Tim spilled wine on LG and LG accidentally flipped over the table when he stood up. Though things weren’t perfect the two IGNOites walked to the train station hand in hand and were able to give each other a long kiss goodnight before falling asleep in LG’s bed together. They both knew that as long as they were together no date could be that bad.

The next day Tim and LG were walking in the IGNOCity Mall when Tim noticed something he thought was odd.

“Is it just me or has MTS been following us all day?” Tim asked trying not to sound paranoid.

“No she has,” LG said calmly, “She’s a yaoi fan girl so she’s bound to stalk us now that we’re boyfriends.”

Tim’s heart skipped a beat and made him so happy that he just had to grab LG and press their lips together. They both noticed a bright light, most likely from MTS’s camera, but were too into the kiss to care.
